Have you ever been in a situation where you came up with an incredible idea — an innovative charity, an idea for a new video series, a creative way to help others — and you wanted to share it but didn’t have the right people to share it with?
Many of us have been there. We dream big, but our ideas don’t escape our minds because we lack the right company to share, critique, and improve our ideas with. In some cases, our ideas are shattered by those around us because people simply don’t think it could work; or worse, people don’t think you’re capable of achieving it.
It ‘s discouraging, but it’s not the end. Our ideas and creative ambitions have the potential to grow, change, and improve. But for that to happen, we have to surround ourselves with like-minded individuals. The innovators, the thinkers, and the listeners; the people who want to spark change and leave a footprint in their life and yours. The people who are willing to help others before helping themselves.
Here are four ways you can surround yourself with like-minded individuals and learn from them, too.
1) Start to think about people in your life who hear your visions and your dreams, and make you feel like you can make them happen, who you can share your doubts and concerns with, who add value to your life. Consider those who inspire you to overcome obstacles and really push yourself to achieve something great.
2) Build deeper connections with people who have done something similar or who have accomplished something challenging. Listen to their stories, you might learn a thing or two. Surrounding yourself with people who are on the same path or have been though a similar journey will help you learn more about yourself and your dreams.
3) Consider going to events, meetups, and conferences that would expose you to people within the realms of your dreams or goals. Ask questions, bounce ideas, and learn about the key players in the field or industry you’re passionate about.
4) Review your visions with these people, share your doubts with them, and take active steps. Check in with your peers and like-mined individuals to see how you can grow and scale your ideas.
At the end of the day, being in a positive, encouraging environment with the right people will help you gain momentum for your ideas and take them to the next level.
